About his experience from the start till Bhumi Robo Fest 2016 in his own words,
Well, What can I say???
It all started with the NTT CSR (CSR activity of the company I work for), followed by Vidya Sagar and then Bhumi. When I visited the science expo at Vidya Sagar last year, I expressed my interest to teach there. But,they told me that I need to take up few degree courses, which was not feasible for me. Then I was suggested to join Bhumi to pursue my interest. I attended the orientation with a thought of choosing of Maths or English. I heard about Yantra, which teaches Robotics to the school kids. I thought of giving it a try, another reason would be that this is the project with short term commitment.
I chose Yantra and attended the pedagogy session. That was a different session, with learning and team building activities. Lunch was awesome, thanks to Rakesh for choosing the menu.
Initially, I went to Arun Rainbow Home (Purasaiwakkam), for two sessions I guess. The kids treated us like family. They remembered me when we met after a long time at Nakshatra and latter sessions. Inspired with a girl named Bhavani for her good leadership skills. I hope she cracks UPSC and get into civil service.
Then I was assigned to Grace Matriculation School (Anna Nagar). When the classes were started, there were many kids, but the count reduced for some reasons. Akash, the guy who tested my patience, made me scared that I would loose my temper. After all, kids!!! This center gave me lessons to learn.
A few days before Bhumi Robo Fest (BRF), I went to Chennai Middle School (Kotturpuram). I met the principal and she was glad with the projects made by the kids and thanked us for teaching some advanced stuff for their age.
Then I went to Avvai Home (Adyar) on the last day before BRF to collect the bots. There was a girl who asked about my favorite cine star when I said none, she fixed me with SK (SivaKarthikeyan tamil cinema actor). At the end of BRF it gave me immense pleasure to hear Madhumitha (a girl from Avvai home) singing where at some point went into emotional tears.
I volunteered for Nakshatra and it was a whole different level of satisfaction.
My involvement in BRF and Nakshatra made me satisfied and happy that I’ve been a part of a team, which brought smile on kids’ faces.
I’m out of words to express my joy and sorrow. Thanks to all those supported me. I got a lot of friends it feels like a family, especially to a sinlge guy away from my family. If I have hurt anyone, it is not intentional.
Change Today….. Change Tomorrow…..
